Terence M. Reed, DDS
Following in the footsteps of my father, who became a dentist after attending dental school twice, once in Germany, and again at New York University after escaping the holocaust, I graduated from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in 1979. I spent the following year in a general practice residency at Westchester County Medical Center.
As a member of the American Dental Association and the Academy of Computerized Dentistry, I frequently continue my education to stay current with new trends in dentistry. I’m proud to have acquired skills encompassing a broad spectrum of general dentistry that permits me to perform most procedures in office without having to refer my patients. I also find this continues to challenge me intellectually, which I find very stimulating.
My goal was to practice dentistry in a rural setting, so I journeyed to Potsdam, and joined the practice of Murray Mintz, DDS. That turned out to be a very wise move, for I have enjoyed a wonderful professional career here, using the latest available technologies in partnership with a staff that has been with me for most, if not all, of my tenure, and a supportive community. I feel that one of my major responsibilities is to be a good employer, and good things will follow, benefiting my patients. It is very reassuring to see the same smiling staff faces year after year, greeting patients when they return to the practice.
In 2000, the practice was renamed the Potsdam Center for Innovative Dental Technologies in conjunction with a total remodeling of the office, including the installation of the latest equipment. Staying abreast of cutting edge technologies in dentistry has always been my passion. We were the first practice to introduce CEREC® to the North Country in 2001, and continue to be on the forefront in the use of this state-of-the-art restorative system which is rapidly becoming the standard of care in dentistry. We were the first, and continue to be the only practice, to provide mini implant technology locally. It’s tremendously rewarding to see how grateful our patients are when experiencing the high tech dentistry we offer in a small town setting.
We have a special breed of person living in the North Country, and I thrive on how appreciative they are when my staff and I handle their dental needs efficiently and painlessly. I can’t think of a better environment to live in and work.
After growing up in urban New York City, I have embraced the rural life style that Potsdam has offered, and appreciate what a great place it has been to raise my two children, Mallory and Scott, with my wife, Nancy. When out of the office, I share a passion for road cycling with Nancy and pleasure from staying fit, spending time with my family, and being part of the wonderful community of Potsdam.
